Demo Day!

Yesterday was the first day of demolition. It was bittersweet to see old favorites being taken down and dug up, but we will keep our eyes on the end-goal of this project, and know how much better things will be in the future. The perimeter of the project has been marked off in safety fences, and a line of chain-link fencing has been put along the sidewalk (by the Art room) so the kids can watch the project. The demolition was the focus of many students during snack and recess. It's so fascinating!!

And then it was great to see the kids start to explore and play in the "back triangle" for the first time!!
Today is more of the same. Demo work is being done where the dumpster and conex storage unit used to be (which luckily just got picked up and removed!) And we've watched an electric crew run around trying to figure out how all the parkinglot light poles were originally daisy-chained together, so that they can make a plan to remove the one near the dumpster area.
With a 2nd, larger machine delivered before lunchtime, it seems their eyes are going to be on working on the front of the school. We'll have to see what the afternoon (and tomorrow!) brings!
