Meanwhile, behind the scenes we are still grappling with added costs. Luckily, we had anticipated overages, as is often the case with construction projects. The current big issues we're dealing with is hiring out a 3rd party inspector and a special inspector. Months back the town had surprised us with the notification that we needed to hire someone to go over the building plans (this has also slowed the project down a bit....which is why most of the work done so far is "de"-struction, rather than "con"-struction). And after adjusting to this added expense, we learned how much a special inspector is going to run, who will be on site often to check on things like the steel framework of the building as it goes up. So while we knew and planned for additional costs, it's always upsetting to have to face them. Maybe one of the diggers will find a pot of gold under the lovely rainbow that appeared this weekend over the job site!
